The Backbone of Economy - SME's

By Brigitta Vetter of 3C First Ltd.

today, for the very first time, I actually heard politicians of Germany speak about the REAL backbone of the economy - small and medium sized enterprises - in short SME's, and how government should also bail them out in this crisis- not just the large banks, insurance companies and car-manufacturers.

Because - this person added - once the car market breaks down - (and it is running reduced shifts already) all suppliers are suffering the same and some are already on the brink of bankruptcy- having filed for "short work" for their employees already, and unless the government holds against this stress with some guarantees, they'll get no further money from their house-bank, and since they cannot create riches out of thin air, HOW to avoid bankruptcy- with turnover outlook uncertain to grim?
However, this politician is - most likely - without knowledge of EC-law - because this is exactly forbidden by those laws, in order to "not disturb free market competition" within the European Community by state "subsidies".

So we can all look forward into lengthy qua qua qua talk talk talk - until 27 member states come to an agreement about this - and of course by then they'll all be bankrupt - anyway.

SME's have no strong lobby - at least not as strong as that of large banks, energy suppliers etc.

So, at least somebody came to think about the fact, that once SME's go bankrupt, they are gone for good and those jobs as well - in consequence - the government will have to support the laid off workers with unemployment money - and this will be quite dear.

Looking forward to the comments of Mrs. Merkel, who will respond with her strategy of "mouse steps".....until she realizes that companies operating at a LOSS or out of business all together do not pay taxes either- halleluia !!!

It's interesting that all those egg-heads have never sold a box of matches in their life, not even a pair of socks on ebay, but make decisions about economy - of which they know nothing - but which affect us all.
